The Texas Ladies’ State Chili Championship (TLS), is held annually in Seguin on the third Saturday in April.  This year, the 42nd Anniversary of the event (22nd  in Seguin), will be held on April 21 at Starcke Park East.  This is an automatic qualifier for the Chili Appreciation Society International, Inc. (CASI) Terlingua International Chili Championship (TICC) held in November every year.  CASI is a 501c3 organization which last year donated in excess of $1.4 million dollars to all types of charities, including Wounded Warriors, Boy Scouts, Make a Wish Foundation, Volunteer Fire Departments and others. More information is available on CASI at www.chili.org.

CASI has many sponsors such as HEB, Tyson Foods, Woodbridge Wineries, Bruce Foods, L & F Distributors, and Budweiser.  We do need sponsors on a local level as well.  We have over 200 cooks from within and outside the State of Texas trying to win the coveted title of the Texas Ladies’ State Chili Champion.  Each of these cooks will be receiving a "goody bag" when they register.  This is your chance to get your company information in the hands of each and every one of these cooks.  Do you have a small give away item that we can include in their bag?  As the second largest Cookoff (second only to TICC) we also need judges, and we encourage spectators to attend and judge or just enjoy the festivities.   Our judges, of course, need palate cleansers, such as soft drinks, water and beer.  The charity of TLS for the last few years has been the Seguin Parks Department.  We have donated over $10,000 to the Parks Department to help with repairs and improvements after the devastating damages done by straight line winds several years ago.

On April 22, 2012, we will also host a chili Cookoff sponsored by the local CASI affiliate, CLASSIC CASI which has donated over $20,000 to the Seguin Christian Free Clinic.  Both of these events are family-oriented.

We greatly appreciate anything you can do to assist in the event.  If you can sponsor an event or make a donation, we will be happy to advertise your company and products.

If you are interested in being a sponsor or have a donation you would like to make, please contact Boomer at dkings5029@aol.com
